Goals and a respectful approach
Children should learn that every culture has its own art traditions, that these traditions change over time, and that objects often have a purpose and meaning. Present each tradition through a specific place and craft, such as woven textiles from the Andes or block printing from Rajasthan, rather than a whole continent.
Invite families and community members to share objects and skills where they are willing. Avoid copying sacred symbols, and do not ask children to dress up as another culture.
