What children gain

The main aims are practical: speaking clearly to a group, using the body to show meaning, responding to a partner and working towards a short shared piece. Shy children often join in more readily through movement and group work than through solo speaking, so build towards individual lines slowly.

Keep the audience small and friendly. Performing for the rest of the group is enough.
